What influenced you to start to write songs? The love of music. And Phil Collins.... when I was really little.
Where do you see yourself with your music in 5 years? I hate setting goals with my music - I enjoy it far too much to do so. I don't want anything to become systematic, logical, or goal-oriented. In 5 years, I hope to be doing what I'm doing now - writing/recording songs, making enough money on iTunes to live and continue writing. A house on MTV's "Cribs" might not be so bad either, though....
When did you first learn to play the piano? Back when I was about 5 or 6, my family bought an old refurbished upright piano. I was known to jam out on it from time to time.... didn't get serious about it til more like middle school when I was 12 or 13 years old.
What's your favorite things about playing shows? When people sing along. It's an unbelievably awesome feeling. It feels great to know that someone actually enjoyed my work so much that they memorized the words, came out to my show, and sang along.
If you weren't writing songs and playing instruments, what do you think you'd be doing? I have no idea! This is seriously an impossible question. I can't see myself doing anything besides what I'm doing now. I consider myself extremely lucky to have a shot at making a living with my music.
What bands or artist influenced you when you were younger? Anything classic rock. Other than that... perhaps "mom" type music. Like I said before... Phil Collins.
Where does the inspiration for your songs come from? Anything and everything that I do inspires me in some way. I find that descriptions of common daily events often come out as lyrical ideas when I'm sitting down writing a new song.
